To achieve our vision, we are searching for a stellar Director of Finance with a Bachelor's Degree and 6-8+ years of work experience in finance, accounting, management consulting or experience in managing/leading finance functions of large and growing organizations. MBA and charter school finance experience is highly preferred, but not required.

Zeta operates five schools in the Bronx and upper Manhattan. We have big growth plans because the educational crisis is massive and requires big solutions. We plan to continue opening 1-2 schools each year, ultimately growing to 25 schools serving 13,000 students across the city by 2035. Zeta’s financial infrastructure capacity and sophistication must scale to support that growth. From streamlining all internal processes to negotiating and securing long term permanent private spaces for our schools in New York City, the Director of Finance will be a key player in Zeta’s strategic growth.

In this role you will set the vision for and manage our finance team to ensure that Zeta has the financial freedom and flexibility to build a world-class, scaling organization and can afford all the necessary resources for excellent programming for our students. The finance team will strategically plan for our financial needs to ensure that Zeta is able to operate existing schools, open new schools, and continue to grow to achieve our big aims. 

You will support Zeta’s financial strategy through:

– Setting the strategic vision for the Zeta finance function and overseeing all aspects of financial operations for our fast growing startup charter organization

– Serving as the financial point of contact for Zeta leadership, our board, and external partners, working closely with all leaders to solve our organization’s highest priorities and most critical challenges

– Managing the internal Zeta finance team, who will be carrying out all day to day financial activities

– Planning and executing a strategic plan to bring Zeta’s finance and accounting functions fully in-house and growing the team’s capacity

– Developing a robust annual budget across all Zeta schools and entities and managing spend to ensure the organization is financially healthy at all times

– Working with the finance team to build models for analysis of financial feasibility of potential real estate deals or projects

– Monitoring financial activity across the organization to ensure that fraud and risk are minimized

– Ensuring Zeta’s financial records, data, and reports are accurate and compliant 

– Wearing multiple hats as part of a startup team

The salary range for this position is $125,000-$150,000. Compensation is based on candidates' qualifications and experience.
