Frequently Asked Questions

What documents do I need for registration?

To complete your child’s registration, you’ll need to:

  1. Complete all Zeta registration forms on SchoolMint
  2. Upload all necessary documents including:
    • Birth certificate as proof of age
    • Two proofs of address (e.g., utility bill, lease agreement, W-2 forms)
    • Immunization records and health forms (up-to-date vaccinations and physical exams)
    • Medication Administration Form (if applicable)
    • Any previous school records (if transferring from another school)

Depending on your child’s grade and any special circumstances, additional documentation might be requested. We’ll communicate all requirements once you accept your spot.

What is the school schedule?

A typical Zeta school day runs from 8:00 AM to 3:45 PM every weekday (except Wednesdays). Many families arrive by 7:20 AM for a free, healthy breakfast. Students then begin their day with exercises like Zeta Zen mindfulness and a morning meeting.

  • Wednesdays feature early dismissal (around 12:45 PM, depending on grade level), so teachers can participate in professional development.
  • After-school clubs are available to a limited number of students until 4:30 PM (or later, depending on the school).

Your specific school will send detailed schedules, including any before-school or after-school options, plus exact Wednesday dismissal times.

Does Zeta provide busing services?

Zeta does not provide its own bus service. However, we partner with the New York City Department of Education to secure free student MetroCards for eligible children. This helps cover subway or city-bus rides to and from school, making transportation more accessible for families.

Does Zeta provide student meals throughout the day?

Absolutely. Each morning, we provide a free, healthy breakfast for students who arrive early. A balanced lunch is served daily, and we also offer snacks throughout the day.  Our meals emphasize fresh, nutritious foods so children have the energy and focus for learning all day long.

Do Zeta students wear uniforms?

  • Students are expected to wear their uniforms every day, unless we are holding a special celebration that calls for students to dress differently (which would be communicated to you well in advance).
  • All uniforms are sold through Flynn ‘O Hara online or in person: www.flynnohara.com/zeta
  • Uniforms cost approximately $200-$250
  • Zeta provides financial assistance on a case by case basis – you can apply during the enrollment process.

Does Zeta provide school supplies or tablets/laptops?

Yes. Zeta covers general school supplies (e.g., pencils, notebooks, art materials) at no cost. We do ask for a $100 technology fee during enrollment to help ensure each child has access to a tablet or laptop for both in-class and at-home learning. This fee covers device maintenance, software licenses, and repairs.

How can my student get involved in after-school programming?

We host a range of after-school clubs and activities, such as sports, music, chess, and STEM. Some schools also offer tutoring or homework help. Opportunities to participate are available at the start of each semester, and we do our best to accommodate as many students as possible. Look out for program announcements and registration details from your school staff.

What resources are available for students who have an IEP?

Zeta invests in serving special populations of students to ensure they have a successful schooling experience. We work closely with families at every turn, and will ensure you are fully informed of any additional services or support your student may need in the interest of their educational success.

For more specifics on your child’s particular IEP services, connect with our Enrollment Team by emailing enroll@zetaschools.org.

What is the student-to-teacher ratio at Zeta?

At Zeta, our aim is to provide small-group instruction and foster close connections between teachers and students. Our typical ratio is 15 students : 1 teacher. Your child’s exact class size may vary by grade level and school. We strive to keep classes small enough that every child receives the individual attention and support they need.

How does Zeta ensure a safe and supportive learning environment?

At Zeta, we focus on social-emotional learning (SEL), including our Circle practice and Zeta Zen mindfulness exercises, to foster empathy, respect, and emotional well-being. We also maintain clear safety protocols for building access and emergency procedures:

  • Secure entrances with sign-in requirements for all visitors
  • Regular drills and staff training for fire and safety events
  • Active community approach so everyone (teachers, staff, families, and students) maintains a positive climate

All staff undergo thorough background checks and training, ensuring students receive compassionate guidance every day.
