Emily A. Kim
Emily Kim founded Zeta Charter Schools in 2017 to build world-class schools that combine rigorous academics with whole-child education. Today, Zeta serves students across the Bronx, Queens, and Upper Manhattan. Ms. Kim began her career in Philadelphia in the school district’s special education department and later as an Early Intervention Education Director supporting young children with developmental delays. She went on to teach high school English at a New York public school and English as a Second Language at a public high school in Labé, Guinea, West Africa. She later practiced law in New York City at Arnold & Porter and Shearman & Sterling, and served as a federal law clerk to the Honorable Dora L. Irizarry in the Eastern District of New York, after which she returned to her passion for education. She helped scale up Success Academy Charter Schools before founding Zeta. Ms. Kim studied at the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. & M.A., English), the Teachers College, Columbia University (Ed.M., Teaching of English), and Columbia Law School (J.D.). She is also a proud charter school parent, with her youngest child attending a Zeta school.
