Emily A. Kim
Emily Kim started her career in education in Philadelphia in the school district’s special education department, later working as an Early Intervention Education Director serving young children with developmental delays. She has also served as a teacher: an English teacher at a public high school in New York and a teacher of English as a Second Language at a public high school in Labé, Guinea, West Africa. Ms. Kim spent time in the private sector as an attorney at Arnold & Porter and Shearman & Sterling, and then returned to her passion of educating children by joining Success Academy Charter Schools, helping the organization scale up while maintaining unprecedented outcomes for children. She founded Zeta Charter Schools in 2017 with the aim of building world-class, next-generation schools that deliver on extraordinary academic outcomes while educating the whole child. Ms. Kim studied at the University of Pennsylvania (B.A. & M.A., English), the Teachers College, Columbia University (Ed.M., Teaching of English), and Columbia Law School (J.D.). She is the mother of three wonderful sons.
