Music Class
At Zeta, we are music lovers. We believe deeply that music should be a part of every child’s life. Through music, children can express themselves and understand others. In Zeta’s music class, children learn that music can be created with voice, instruments, or with any objects around us, and music can be expressed through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, pitch, and timbre.
Having exposure to music allows children to learn about their preferences, and this knowledge can serve as a building block for evolving musical tastes and affinities. Music is an ideal space to experience diversity and multiculturalism. Through listening to and discussing various musical genres and composers of many backgrounds, children develop a broad awareness of different cultures.

How do we approach music?
Music at Zeta inspires students to be actively involved in their own music education. The curriculum consists of singing, playing instruments, and reading musical notation.
At the start of class, students participate in a song, which allows them to sing in different ranges and become comfortable with singing in front of others. Students learn musical concepts through listening to a variety of music and responding with their bodies.
They can demonstrate their musical understanding and express themselves by using instruments. Students are able to build community by interacting with one another and collaborating to create their own songs, both vocal and instrumental.
There is no right or wrong answer when it comes to creating or enjoying music class at Zeta. It is a safe place for students to explore and express themselves freely.
